Montvale, NJ Firm Turns to IND in Time of Crisis

Parsippany, NJ (August 10, 2005) - “The roof of our office collapsed last night and we have no power. George, we need help!” was the message IND Senior Account Manager George Logan received early in the morning on July 19, 2005.

The headquarters of Quantitative Environmental Analysis (QEA) in Montvale, New Jersey was hit the night before by torrential rain from a summer thunderstorm, partially collapsing the roof, severing water lines and knocking out the power, leaving the building in a state of disaster.

“We needed to get our systems back on-line so that our people could continue to work,” said Mark Meyers, a Managing Scientist at QEA and responsible for their IT systems. “We have four other offices around the country that rely on the electronic data and IT systems in our Montvale office. We manage a wide variety of environmental projects and house a large quantity of data in the Montvale office. We had to get our data as well as our e-mail service back on-line that same day, and we turned to IND for help.”

Meyers was soon on his way to IND with QEA’s servers and firewall. Upon his arrival, IND engineers had already made the necessary preparations to set up and install the servers in IND’s network operations center, a state-of-the-art facility that boasts a climate-controlled atmosphere, secure monitored access, a dry-gas fire suppression system, uninterruptible power back-up and redundant Internet connections.

Within two hours of arrival at IND, QEA’s IT systems were back on-line, and their personnel across the country were able to resume work. “We had been using IND for day-to-day support and for special IT projects, but we had not anticipated their role in disaster recovery. The IND team responded efficiently to our emergency, and the availability of their data center made all the difference.” said Meyers.
